Attic Ladders

An attic ladder is useful and convenient for easy access to your roof space.  Installing a loft ladder enables you to make good use of your empty attic space, by making the climb up there quick and hassle-free.  Most of us use the roof space in our homes or garages for storage, and don't need to access it frequently, so it makes sense to have a folding attic ladder in place, which can be folded away and stored when not in use, rather than a permanent set of steps.

Folding attic ladders come with a pull cord attached, or a ring slot in which a hook on the end of a pole is inserted, to extend the ladder safely down to the ground.  Many attic pull down ladders have a loft hatch door attached.  An attic access ladder needs to be locked into position before climbing to ensure it is stable and to prevent injury.  It also needs to be put securely back into its storage position afterwards.

Attic ladders are available in different lengths, depending on the height of your ceiling and the space in your loft hatch.  They can be made from traditional wood or steel, or more modern aluminum or fiberglass.  Many come with extra wide or cushioned non-slip rungs for your comfort and safety.  If accessing your roof space currently requires a lot of time and effort, installing an attic ladder can be well worth your while and can help you make optimal use of that extra storage space.
